Oman Aircraft Control College Extends Software Support Agreement with Micro Nav Limited
14 September 2018
The Oman Aircraft Control College (OACC) has awarded Micro Nav Limited (Micro Nav) a further five years for its software support service and a technical refresh to the BEST Tower visual display system.
The technical refresh to the visual display system consists of a screen with a continuous cylindrical surface and five high resolution projectors. The projected image is made virtually seamless through the integration of Micro Nav’s award winning Automatic Display Alignment System (ADAS). The display screen covers an arc of 234° and has a radius of 4.0m and is 2.52m high providing the OACC with a state-of-the-art visual display system to complement the existing BEST simulator suite in use in Muscat.
A spokesperson for OACC said, “Micro Nav has shown its flexibility in its support of the OACC with this contract extension. The delivery of the new visual display system ensures the OACC continue to offer its internal and external customers a fully immersive and high-fidelity training environment.”
Michael Saunders, Sales & Marketing Director for Micro Nav said, “The OACC is a long-standing and valuable Micro Nav customer and end user. The support extension including a technical refresh is a win-win for all parties and is just reward following negotiations over the last 12 months demonstrating Micro Nav’s commitment to the OACC.”

Micro Nav Limited, a world leader in ATC simulation and training systems for civil and military operations, has been designing and developing ATC simulation, Air Battle Management and airport training systems since 1988. Micro Nav’s customer base is global and includes deliveries to more than a quarter of the world’s busiest airports, some of the largest ANSPs and ATC Training facilities – both civil and military.
Winner of the Queen’s Award for Innovation 2016
Micro Nav received the Innovation Award for its Automatic Display Alignment System (ADAS) used in 3D air traffic control simulators and training systems. These simulators rely on the use of multiple projectors to present a simulated view that would be seen from a control tower at an airport. Historically, setting up and maintaining the calibration of multiple projector arrays has been achieved manually by skilled specialist engineers.
BEST is the ATC training and simulation solution from Micro Nav. BEST stands for Beginning to End for Simulation and Training. BEST is a single solution product covering all training requirements from ab-initio to TRUCE.
In August 2012, Micro Nav joined the Quadrant Group of companies, adding world-class Air Traffic Control simulation systems to the Quadrant Flight Simulation portfolio.
Established in 1994, the Quadrant Group is collectively active in flight training services and flight simulation relocations, updates, products, manufacturing and maintenance. Along with Micro Nav, the Group includes: Quadrant Systems Limited, Quadrant Simulation Systems Inc, and Quest Flight Training Limited.
